The Invisible Crime Against Humanity

by | Nov 22, 2017

Many people believe that the majority of the crimes against humanity are happening somewhere else, “out there” in the world.

But there is a crime against humanity that is rarely seen or talked about in those terms and is likely happening right where you’re sitting.

My hope is that by shining some light on this dynamic and how it might be showing up in your life, you may come into a deeper understanding of the impact it’s having and the importance of self-transformation.

Humanity, like all of nature, is like a flower that simply wants to blossom into its ultimate potential.

It’s in our nature to strive, to expand, to reach higher, to want to experience and express the ultimate.

All human beings want to experience the highest levels of freedom, creativity, abundance, self-expression and love.

And yet, nothing tramples upon, beats up, demolishes and destroys more dreams, aspirations and potential than the self-torturing judgements, stories and lies we keep buying into about ourselves.

These self-torturing, disapproving judgements, stories and lies are the invisible crime that many of us are committing against humanity, perhaps, without us ever truly considering its impact.

We perpetuate it every day we engage in the act of belittling ourselves, disapproving of ourselves and believing that we are not enough – not smart enough, capable enough, good enough – to be loved and accepted as we are and to realize our highest goals and dreams.

Every time we believe a thought that seeks to do any of the above – we are committing a crime against humanity.

Every time we are believing a thought that makes us out to be small, incapable, unworthy, inadequate and unloveable – we are committing a crime against humanity.

Every time we project all that disapproval and judgment on to others – our spouses, families, friends, neighbors and communities – we are committing a crime against humanity.

Every time we believe that we are inadequate and not good enough, we are not part of the solution that will elevate humanity, we are part of the problem.

The problem that creates all the conflicts and wars around the world can be found closer than your backyard – it can be found within.

When we take an honest look to see how much disapproval, judgement, hatred and attack we’ve been assaulting ourselves with, and how much of that spews out into all our relationships, we begin to gain a clearer understanding of why there’s so much conflict in our world.

Outer, visible conflicts are merely an expression of inner, invisible conflicts happening within us.

To believe that we can create a better world without each of us taking ownership of the creative power we are using (or misusing) to create our own experience of life – is a fantasy.

And to think that the world will change only and if others change (and not yourself ) is merely asking for nothing to change.

“I want to change you” – that is not a revolution.
“I’m willing to change” – now this is a revolution.
– Sadhguru

Every time we choose to love and accept ourselves, we are creating a more loving world.

Every time we choose to heal and let go of our stories of disempowerment, we are creating a more empowered world.

Every time we tap into and express the Magnificence within us, we are elevating all of humanity.

If nothing else, I write this to simply remind you that you are a limitless being. You have more going for you than you can ever imagine. All the qualities that you admire in others, they are right there, within you, just waiting to be recognized, unleashed and shared with the world.

You are a living, breathing miracle.

And if I’m being totally transparent, part of the reason I’m writing this is because I want you to know – to truly know – from the deepest part of my Being, that you are loved deeply, and no matter what you do or don’t do, you are worthy of love.

Don’t wait for the world to give it to you. Give it to yourself and then extend it to the world…. And watch as the world begins to match the song that’s emanating from within you.

“If you want to awaken all of humanity, then awaken all of yourself.

If you want to eliminate the suffering in the world, then eliminate all that is dark and negative in yourself.

Truly, the greatest gift you have to give is that of your own self-transformation.”
– Lao Tzu
