The Transformative Power of Getting Quiet
“There is no requirement to transcend the past. All that must be done is to stop carrying it, like a block of stone, on one’s back.”
– Wu Hsin
Yesterday, I was working with a coaching client who came in confused, worried and doubtful about what she was creating in her life, about where she thought she should already be, and so on.
Underneath all that pain there was a yearning. A yearning for clarity. A yearning for peace.
I spoke what was flowing through at the moment, “You know, relying on your current thinking for answers is relying on what you already know. And what you already know is what created the situation you’re in.”
She got very quiet.
“If you’re going to get the insight you need to change this pattern in your life, you need to step into the “I don’t know”. Then there’s an opening. Then there’s a new possibility.”
“But how?,” she asked.
“Just get quiet. Relying on what you think you know is only going to create more of the same. To receive insight, stop looking to your thoughts and get quiet. A quiet mind allows our inherent wisdom and insight to rise to the surface and guide our lives.”
She was silent.
For the rest of the session we were mostly in silence.
And in that silence, she had an insight.
And that ONE insight alone, changed everything.
She was no longer afraid. No longer doubtful. No longer confused.
The answer she needed appeared, effortlessly, as soon as she stopped trying to figure it out.
She just got quiet.
I invite you to stop looking towards your thoughts for clarity.
Get quiet. Go for a walk. Take a shower. Relax and allow your inherent wisdom to come forth.
Just one insight can create a miracle in your life.
You simply need to get quiet… and listen.
With all my love,
Joshua
