Loosen Your Grip, Transform Your Life
It’s always fascinated me how when some people hear the news that they are going to die soon, their whole way of being up to that point undergoes a profound transformation.
Suddenly, these people shift their focus to what’s most important to them. What used to worry or frighten them starts looking silly, small and insignificant in light of the fact that they’re going to die.
Their senses get heightened. Life takes on an intensity, a glow, a radiance that was always there but consistently overlooked.
Many of these people leave their jobs because it simply wasn’t aligned with their heart’s true desires. They drop the situations and dramas in their lives that no longer really matter. They start focusing on doing what they love the most.
Why?
Because they know their time on this earth is coming to a close very soon.
These people start living it up. They stop listening to their doubts. They stop functioning from the mental program called “What’s going to happen to me?” Because they already know what’s going to happen to them. They’re going to leave this earth and everything they ever “owned” and loved behind.
These people stop sweating the small stuff and finally realize that it’s ALL small stuff. They stop caring about what other people think of them. They stop stopping. They stop trying to be something they’re not.
Because it finally becomes clear…
Where you’re headed isn’t nearly as important as where you’re coming from in each and every moment.
Where we’re headed isn’t really all that important. Think about it. We’re all headed to the same place. Go to a graveyard to verify this for yourself. We’re all headed to the same place.
These people wake up to the realization that what we do in this life isn’t nearly as important as how we do it.
It becomes clear that where we’re coming from is all that ever really mattered because where we’re coming from is how we’re showing up, it’s how life is showing up, it’s how we’re seeing the people around us, it’s how we’re seeing what life presents to us.
When we see this, we loosen our grip – on our bodies, our minds, our possessions, our goals, our problems, our challenges, our inadequacies – everything.
And our lives transform.
The light of love, beauty and perfection shine through the cracks of our decomposing mental structures. And what has always already been given begins to be received. And what a miracle it is.
So please, take a moment right now. Slow down. Be with me here. Because I have news for you: You’re going to die. It’s going to happen. Nobody comes out of this alive. You will shed this body and return it to the elements from which it came.
Everything you know right now, you will have to let go of. Everything. No exceptions. Whether you want to loosen the grip or not, it will happen anyways.
You know this already. You have this one life. Nobody knows if we will ever get another chance to walk this earth. Nobody. So it’s best to assume that you won’t.
So the question is:
In light of the fact that you are going to die, how will you choose to live today?
In light of the fact that you will be leaving this earth, in what condition will you leave it when you’re gone?
In light of the fact that you will be leaving everything and everyone behind, how will you show up today, here and now, and how will you treat those around you?
And lastly, in light of the fact that you will be shedding this body and everything you know, what is truly worthy of dedicating your life energies to?
Are you in alignment with the highest possibilities and expression for your life?
Are you holding on too tightly to judgements, resistance, resentments and/or pretending to be something or someone you’re not?
Are you experiencing and expressing all the love, joy, freedom and appreciation that can flow out from within you?
Are you being a beneficial presence on this planet while you’re here?
Are you willing to loosen your grip so you can experience the expansive fullness that this life is offering you in every moment?
Contemplate these questions.
I urge you to not wait until death comes knocking on your door to start looking in this direction.
Begin now. Let your mortality inform you and guide you about how to live your life, how to be in relationship with others, yourself, and what to do each and every day to honor this gift called your life.
This is your magnificent life.
May you wake up to all that you are and fulfill your divine potential in this lifetime.
