The Impact Of The 3 Principles Understanding
“Most human beings live like a bird in a cage whose door was blown away. Out of habit, too busy gold-plating the cage, they do not soar to the ultimate possibility.”
– Sadhguru
The other day, my wife, Sarah, and I were sitting in a restaurant talking about the transformative impact The Three Principles have made in our lives and in the lives of our clients.
It’s so awesome and inspiring. And yet, at that moment, it wasn’t totally clear WHY people have been responding the way they have.
I mean, what is it about understanding The Three Principles that enables people to access more clarity, wisdom, insight, and wellbeing?
It’s a big question that can be answered in a lot of different ways.
But the way it occurred to me in that conversation may shed some light on why this understanding can catalyze powerful changes in every area of your life.
Here’s a little glimpse into how the conversation went:
SARAH: “So what do you think it is about the principles that catalyzes such profound change in people?”
ME: “The way it occurs to me in this moment is…through a metaphor. Imagine for a moment that at some point in our lives we created a doll made out of salt. A salt doll.”
SARAH: “OK…”
ME: “And for whatever reason, at some point, we started to identify ourselves with this doll, with this elaborate form we made up. Over time, this salt doll appears as a solid, hard reality/form.
“But the moment we start to look in the direction of The Three Principles, the moment we start to explore the nature of Thought, or the nature of Consciousness, or the nature of Mind…it’s as if we have taken that salt doll and submerged it, for a few seconds, into a vast ocean.
“Every time we look within and explore the nature of The Principles in our lives, it’s like submerging that salt doll into the ocean, again and again. Little by little, that salt doll starts to appear more translucent. It appears less solid, and parts of it begins to dissolve as it becomes one with the ocean itself.
“This inner space, that all forms dissolve into, is our true, formless nature. The salt dolls in our lives (identities, beliefs, stories, etc.) are just condensed forms of this vast, formless intelligence that we’re calling ‘the ocean’ in our metaphor.

“So in short, the reason this understanding has such a profound impact is because every time we look deeper into our true nature, into the nature of The Three Principles, we are coming back home to our innate clarity and wellbeing. And every time we go back “home” we realize that it’s been the destination we’ve been trying to get to our whole lives (in all the wrong ways). Until one day we recognize that ‘home’, our innate wellbeing, happens to be the destination we never left.”
“At that point, all the things we’ve been looking for, such as fulfillment, happiness, joy, freedom, love, peace, creativity, and connection, go from being the “Z” in our lives, meaning the end goals…to being the “A” in our lives, meaning, the very foundation of our moment to moment experience.
“And when this happens, when we’re no longer looking ‘out there’ for what we’ve always had ‘in here’, our true potential comes into clear view and we realize how free we are to experience and express all that we are, and the fullness of life, without fear, resistance or lack.”
SARAH: “Wow…what could be more valuable than that?”
